Spring Wishes

Heavy frost covers the pasture this morning like a fresh coat of snow. But I'm not fooled by spring's whitewash. I look to the west and see the eastern sunrise reflected on the crest of snow-capped Selkirks and giggle at the return of pink.

It is now spring and these are my wishes:
  • for warm soil to dig my toes and fingers into
  • for the return of Blue Heron, stealth-stalking bull-frogs and fish
  • for quieter mating bull-frogs
  • for the first plunge of an osprey from sky into pond
  • for words that flow like trout streams in the mountains
  • for beauty to be daily and ordinary and in your backyard, too

Happy spring from the yet-frozen shores of Elmira Pond!

  2. I'm dreaming of the warmth of sunshine that spring may still bring. Warmer here today and finally the snow has started to melt. Feeling hopeful!

    1. No matter what happens (more snow, for instance) it has such an upbeat quality!

    1. Ha, ha! Sister Spring has many sides to her personality. I got pink...you got white...and who knows, I may be lamenting late May about snow on my garden!
