Mimosa Power |
Muscle up, Girls! While the boys went outside with axes and mauls, we stayed inside where it was warm to flex, stretch and pump blood. Allison and Stephanie are University of Montana grad students in the Environmental Science and Natural Resource Journalism program. Not for sissies. These two power-houses know how to yoga, and that's just what they do. Some of theirs twists are as insane as their deadlines.
Pounding away on the Elmira treadmill is Brianna. She's a gymnastics coach who has survived numerous summer camps for kids with fangs. Really. She's been bit on the job. But she knows how to condition her students with regiments and exercises that would make even tough Airborne Rangers cry, "Uncle"! She's running hills.
Then there's me...I'm known as "Mum" around these parts. And I'm powerful too. Watch out for my strong word-stroke, nimble key-pecking fingers and powerful imagination. That's right; I write. I just won my second NaNoWriMo, completing a novel of 50,104 words. Okay. It's a first draft, but I will body-slam that revision!
What fuels us powerful girls of Elmira? Why bubbly mimosas, of course. But don't tell the wood-choppers. They think we are in the house doing dishes.
I am all for girl power but it's the mimosa I would like right now! Again, congratulations on being a NaNoWriMo WINNER!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ruth! The Mimosas were a celebration and also my daughters' idea to have a day called, "Much Ado About Brunching." Which we did. And watched "Much Ado About Nothing."
DeleteWe have, indeed, come a long way! You are all examples of how women can truly be powerhouses in their own right and write without male pseudonyms.
ReplyDeleteWe believe in strong women in this family! We also have great men who believe in us, too (and we in them)!
DeleteWe have some incredible women in our family! You have a great deal to be proud of.
ReplyDeleteWomen rock in our family, Julie! To be able to find strong women in our history makes it encouraging for the women of our present, too! So glad to be a Mills!
